I'll leave it to several sites already on the net to tell you all about Burgundy being the heart of France. What I will mention is that Burgundy has one of the highest percentage increases per year on property values and prices. It's approximately 16%, the third highest in France, with only Rhone Alpes and Languedoc Roussillon regions doing better. And yet, it is the third least expensive region to move to.
The house is in department 71 - Saone et Loire. It is situated in the quaint village of Anost, and more specifically, in the small commune of Varin.
Anost has everything you need for day to day life, two small shops, a boulangerie, boucherie, La Poste, a cash point machine, several restaurants and bars, a takeaway pizzeria and even a cinema!

The ancient Roman town of Autun, just 20 minutes away, boasts the spectacular St. Lazare Cathedral - the largest of its gothic style in Europe. The two bedroomed town house also for sale is in the Cathedral district, and seconds away from the restaurants and shops of Autun.

GETTING HERE
CAR - It's a straight run from Calais. Take the A16 to Paris, then the A6 all the way. Various sat navs will have you come off at the junction for Saulieu, but in my experience, it's quicker to stay on the A6 to junction 24, go to Autun, then head for Anost on the D978, which is the Chateau Chinon road. Anost is a right turn onto the D2.
The other route is to bypass Paris, as the peripherique can be a nightmare, and take the A26 from Calais, then the A5 to Dijon. You can then head for Autun on the A38.
PLANE - Dijon airport is due to begin flights from Stanstead, which will make getting here from the UK very easy. At the moment, the airports to use are Lyon (St. Exupery) and Paris Orly. Flights to Lyon are less in numbers. Paris Orly is a straight run up the motorway and takes three hours.
